Fishing Net Building
Recently, I've been very interested in the process of bending wood. I decided to experiment with this, hands on, and make a fly fishing net.
This process includes determining the circumference of the net and the overall desired shape, then building a form that accommodates these parameters.
It's very important to know the properties of wood when doing this process, or any wood work in general. For this net, I chose woods (oak and walnut) that absorb liquids well and bend easily without cracking.
To personalize the net, I added a bar in the handle that allows for easier carrying. Metal markers are placed every inch so that if you do catch a fish, the handle can be used as a measuring device.
